Discovery Time

Discovery is a time each week where we divide all 4 SK classes into 3 groups.  They travel around to different classrooms where a new experience in math, language arts, science, or social studies awaits for them.
In the Brilliant Bug room, we went outside to learn about nature at GSL.  We used our senses to taste, hear, smell, touch, and see all the wonderful flowers, plants, trees, bugs, and herbs right around the lower school.

In the Meerkat room, the kids read 10 Apples Up on Top and then wrote their very own versions by putting apples (paper) on their heads.  What a fun way to practice 1 to 1 correspondence.  This will become our first class book.
Everyone wrote their very first journal entry in the Crazy Critters room.  Mrs. Shannon read Diary of a Worm to help with the understanding of journal.  After Discovery, we put these first journal entries in our blue journals.  We will be writing in our journals at least three times a week throughout the school year.
